DMLogic is proud to congratulate Bob Kennedy, partner and senior vice president of business development, for being named a finalist for MHI’s Mentor of the Year Award.
Kennedy is an accomplished professional with more than 35 years of management experience in the supply chain industry. He has progressively moved from starting in an engineering role to senior management in service, project and program management, business development, consulting and marketing. He has served in the role of founding partner of three separate supply chain consulting and IT companies including 7Hills, MARC Global (acquired by Red Prairie) and DMLogic, LLC.
Since forming DMLogic with three partners, Kennedy has been instrumental in growing the business from its inception to a $7 million company. Increasing revenue by 300% in the first two years, the company was initially built on supporting customers who still utilize the MARC WMS, which is no longer supported by JDA.
“The confidence customers still have in Bob and the DMLogic team after 20 years of using the MARC WMS is a testament to the service our team has provided and Bob is an integral part of that service,” said fellow partner and senior vice president of products, Lynn Dermott, who has worked with Bob for more than 25 years. “Few people have the ability to recognize special and unique qualities in their employees, but that is one of Bob’s greatest talents. He ‘sees’ something in people that they may not see in themselves and he encourages them to develop that particular hidden skill. There are countless examples of Bob selecting employees to fulfill roles that they would not otherwise gravitate to on their own.”
Over the course of his career, Kennedy has directly managed more than 350 people. Notably, he has worked side-by-side with many of the same people over the course of 20+ years. From an Penn State intern who joined his team in 1999 and is now his partner at DMLogic to software engineers and WMS application consultants who have progressively grown in their careers and now work at DMLogic, he challenges his team, pushes them outside their comfort zone and helps them learn and grow throughout their career. Currently, almost half of the DMLogic staff worked with Bob at former companies for which he worked.
“For many years, Bob has been an amazing mentor, teacher and leader, said Kristi Curran, DMLogic senior project manager. “He knew more about the WMS industry than I could even imagine and he worked with each one of his employees to teach us what he knew. I could go to Bob at any time with issues, concerns and he never made me feel uneasy. His management expertise, effective communication and attention to details shaped me into the business professional I am today.”
The Mentor Award honors an MHI member who offers professional guidance, is a positive and inspiring role model, instills and nurtures talent, advocates for employees and supports their professional development and possesses a commitment to the company and its people.
